Storytelling has been part of our DNA since the beginning of time. We use stories to express great love, to great distress, to every emotion in between. Storytelling not only offers a powerful space to reclaim ourselves and better understand ourselves, but also gives us the opportunity to share our experiences and connect with our community. With digital publishing we can enable student voice and choice to create stories in new forms and easily distribute their stories during times of remote learning. By reading (or listening or playing) through each other’s stories and discussing each other’s stories, students can be more in touch with each other and build a stronger sense of community even when they are apart.

"Naomi Harm and Nicole Kang will showcase how literacy goes beyond a general understanding of reading and writing, and why it is so important to nurture these lifelong learning skills with all students of every ability. Naomi and Nicole will model engaging journaling strategies with SlidesMania templates, quick writes with Google Jamboards, student authorship and book creation with Book Creator, and motivating opportunities for students to "show what they know" through designing their own digital stories and graphic novels through “choose your adventure” Computer Science stories with Elementari."
